Rhea has given birth to two dolphin calves since we have first sighted her in 2014. Female dolphins can give birth every two years, if they are healthy dolphins. Her current calf will remain with Rhea for two years until weaned, and is mostly observed behind the mother when surfacing to breathe. This is called the “infant” position .
